I then save each updated tree as a Gedcom and import it into Heredis. But as well as that - Ancestry finds possible matches in trees for me and I have found many well researched branches of my family tree effortlessly. As are many others - and this means that when I make changes online - they are then synched to my computer version. The reason I use Family Tree maker is because I am subscribed to. I also use Family Tree Maker Platinum on both MAC and the latest version for my PC. I have Heredis both for PC and MAC - and I love it. My experinece may not be typical, but I certainly won’t be going near it again.īiggest Con: Doesn’t import a perfectly good Gedcom

Fortunately I paid only 50% of the normal price a mere $30 US, but they have it, and I don’t. I tried to contact support but th link on the menu doesn’t work. Oh, and it suddenly puts up messages in French which isn’t good although I can read it but that’s not the point. Pressing the button to see it has no effect. Heredis fails and says see the log file for why. Rootmagic imports it okay, so does FTM, and a couple of others I’ve passed it through Gedcom validators and they all say it’s okay. It looks horrible these days compared to a few years ago.

I thought I’d try it again and so bought Heredis 2020 yesterday. Support were hopeless at resolving the problem, so I ditched it. It looked lovely but then started to crash constantly for no apparent reason. I used Heredis when I first got a Mac in 2014.
